Frequently asked questions
Who publishes YarnMaker?
YarnMaker is published by Dorothy Lumb Publishing, an independent publisher and sole trader. The business was established by Dorothy in 2009 in order to launch a new magazine for British handspinning. Estimates put together with the help of other traders catering for this market and event organisers suggest that there are around 10,000 handspinners today in the UK. This is a niche market and as a sole trader I am able to operate with low overheads and make a profit in a market that large publishing houses cannot cater for. If you pick up the phone, or email, to discuss subscriptions, contributions, advertising, wholesale, or any other matter the person who responds will be the editor: Dorothy Lumb.

Electonic version for download
There are no plans to produce an electronic version of the magazine.
From Autumn 2015, YarnMaker is formally a quarterly magazine, with subscriptions available for one year/ 4 issues or 2 years / 8 issues.
Prior to that, subscriptions were for 6 editions. Back in 2010 when I set up YarnMaker I hoped that 6 editions per year would be possible. The only year there were six editions was 2011, and in 2014 and 2015 it has settled down to being 4 per year.
"Are you going to publish an article about ...?"
Please look at Information for Contributors, YarnMaker depends on people submitting articles on subjects they would like to see in the magazine. We aim to have a good mix of topics covered in every edition - if you think there is a gap in the content, maybe you can help? We also welcome news that is relevant to handspinners.
Can I have access to the YarnMaker customer list for marketing purposes?
No. Data relating to purchasers of magazines is only used for the purpose for which it was supplied. We are registered with the Information Commissioner and abide by legal requirements for handling and protection of data.
I'm moving house... how do I inform you of my new address?
Please get in touch by email, phone, or letter with details of your old and new addresses so I can update your subscription record. See here for how to contact YarnMaker.
